Pricing commercial kitchen equipment work
- Set your service labor rate from your costs: (tech wages and burden + vehicle and truck stock costs + overhead share + profit) ÷ billable hours per year.
- Charge a trip or service call fee plus labor for non-warranty work, and a clear premium for after-hours, weekend and holiday calls.
- Model warranty work separately: compare each manufacturer's labor allowance to your actual time on their units. Some brands may pay below your rate, which matters when deciding which authorizations to keep.
- Price PM contracts per piece of equipment per visit: (minutes per unit × units + travel) ÷ 60 × labor rate × visits per year, plus consumables such as descaler, filters and gaskets.
