What every electrical invoice needs

  • Your business name, address, phone and license number
  • Invoice number, date and due date
  • Customer name, billing address and service address
  • A line for every service, part and fee, with quantity and rate
  • Tax, total, payments received and balance due
  • Payment terms and how to pay

Pricing electrical work

  • Price repeatable tasks flat-rate: (task hours × fully loaded hourly cost + materials) ÷ (1 − target margin). Receptacles, breakers, GFCIs and fixtures are ideal.
  • Charge a diagnostic fee that covers a set amount of troubleshooting time, and agree up front what happens if the fault takes longer.
  • Price panel upgrades and service changes as packages that include permit, inspection visits, utility coordination time and any required grounding or bonding work.
  • Build EV charger pricing in tiers by distance from the panel and whether the panel has capacity, rather than one price that is wrong half the time.
