What every garage door invoice needs

  • Your business name, address, phone and license number
  • Invoice number, date and due date
  • Customer name, billing address and service address
  • A line for every service, part and fee, with quantity and rate
  • Tax, total, payments received and balance due
  • Payment terms and how to pay

Pricing garage door work

  • Price repairs as flat-rate tasks from a price book: parts cost plus your labor hours at a loaded hourly rate, plus margin. Labor rate = (annual overhead + tech wages and burden + target profit) divided by billable hours.
  • Quote springs as a pair on two-spring doors. Many companies recommend replacing both because they share the same age and cycle wear; explain why rather than just adding it to the bill.
  • Use a diagnostic or service-call fee that is credited toward the repair, and say so on the phone. It answers the price shopper without quoting blind.
  • For new doors, build price from the supplier cost of the door, track and hardware, then add install labor hours, haul-away, and your margin. Use markup and margin correctly: a 50% margin is a 100% markup.
