- Clean condenser coil and straighten fins
- Check contactor for pitting and capacitor µF against rating
- Check fan motor, blade and bearings
- Confirm unit is level and clear of debris
- Inspect line insulation and service valve caps
Cooling / heat pump: indoor unit
- Replace or clean the filter
- Inspect evaporator coil and drain pan; flush the condensate line
- Test the float / condensate safety switch
- Check blower wheel and motor amps
Cooling performance
- Superheat (fixed orifice) or subcooling (TXV) against target
- Temperature split across the coil
- Total external static pressure
- Compressor and fan amps
Gas furnace
- Test for CO at the flue and in the living space
- Inspect heat exchanger, venting and gas connections
- Clean flame sensor and record micro-amps
- Check gas pressure and temperature rise against the nameplate
- Verify safeties: rollout, high limit, pressure switch
