This is our own product compared with Workiz, so read it with that in mind. Workiz is better than TradesWork at several things, and we say which. Every Workiz fact below comes from its pricing page, help center or terms, checked October 15, 2026.
The short version: Workiz is built around the phone and fast-turn work, with subcontractor handling most competitors don't have. TradesWork is built for HVAC, plumbing and electrical shops of roughly 3 to 50 techs that earn their margin on memberships and replacement sales. Your trade and how you sell decide this more than any feature list.
Where Workiz is stronger
Subcontractors. Workiz lists subcontractor management on its Standard plan.1 Subcontractors are free users: they can't log in, but you assign them jobs, send the details by text or email, and they can confirm the job and, if you allow it, collect offline payment and close it from the same link.23 TradesWork has nothing like this. If you farm out overflow or specialty work, stop here and weigh that first.
Fast-turn, phone-first work. Genius Phone adds call masking, call insights and two-way texting, and Genius Answering picks up calls and inbox messages in English, Spanish and French.1 Garage door, locksmith and appliance companies run their whole day off the phone, and Workiz is shaped for that.
Financing in the app. Workiz Pay, including online payments, estimate deposits, consumer financing and tap to pay, is on every plan.1 TradesWork shows a monthly payment figure on each estimate option, but lenders aren't connected yet, so the customer applies with your lender separately.
A ready-made price book for the big three trades. Workiz's Price Book Pro offers prebuilt flat-rate catalogs for HVAC, plumbing and electrical, with material costs typically updated quarterly.4 TradesWork doesn't ship a prebuilt catalog; you bring your own price list.
Track record. Workiz has been around for years across many trades. TradesWork is new in 2026 and far fewer shops run on it.
Where TradesWork is stronger
You can see the price. All three Workiz plans say "Request pricing," and the Genius add-ons are sold separately with no listed price.1 TradesWork publishes every plan: Essentials $79, Pro $99 and AI $139 per tech or sales seat a month billed annually, or $91, $114 and $160 month-to-month.
Who you pay for. Workiz plans include a set number of seats, and its help center says removing users "does not reduce the number of seats" or your price during the contract term.5 TradesWork charges only for techs and sales staff. Office staff are free, so a growing office doesn't grow the bill.
Contract and renewals. Workiz's help center says all plans are purchased on annual contracts, paid monthly or annually.5 Its terms set a 12-month initial term that renews for further 12-month periods unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before it ends, and they allow an annual fee increase of up to 10% on the Sales Order anniversary with 30 days' notice.6 TradesWork is month-to-month, or annual that never auto-renews at a higher price.
Memberships and selling on the middle plan. Workiz's pricing page lists service plans, flat rate, sales proposals, checklists and equipment tracking on Ultimate.1 TradesWork includes memberships from Pro: dues bill themselves, failed cards are retried, visits come due on schedule and member pricing applies on estimates. Techs build good, better and best options from your price book, with a monthly payment shown under each.
HVAC records and a no-signal app. TradesWork keeps equipment history per unit, a refrigerant log tied to each tech's EPA 608 number, leak repair deadlines and warranty claim tracking. The tech app runs on iPhone and Android in English and Spanish, and keeps saving estimates, notes, photos and forms with no signal.
Phones without add-ons. TradesWork includes missed-call text back and caller pop-ups showing history, open jobs, balance and membership, and its AI plan adds an AI receptionist, in early access. On Workiz, the comparable tools are the paid Genius add-ons.

Under Workiz's terms, cancelling takes effect at the end of the current term, pre-paid fees aren't refunded, and amounts due under the original term remain due.6 Put your notice deadline in a calendar the day you sign.
Day to day
Office. Workiz centers on the phone, the Message Center and the schedule. TradesWork puts the caller's history, open jobs, balance and membership on screen before you answer, and gathers web, referral and marketplace leads into one inbox.
Techs. Both have mobile apps. TradesWork walks each visit step by step, lets techs talk instead of type, includes HVAC calculators, and keeps working with no signal.
Owners. Workiz offers built-in reports, with custom reports from Pro, and exports to CSV.17 TradesWork lets you ask plain-English questions of your own numbers and shows job profit and commissions.
Questions to ask in each trial
Ask Workiz:
- What's our 12-month total on the plan we need, with seats, Genius add-ons and phone usage, in writing?
- If service plans or flat rate matter to us, is that Ultimate, or can it be added to Pro?
- What will our price be at renewal, and what's our exact notice date?
- How do we get a complete export of clients, invoices and our price book if we leave?
Ask TradesWork:
- How will we handle subcontracted jobs without a subcontractor feature?
- Which financing lender do we use today, and how will customers apply?
- What does the spreadsheet importer bring over from Workiz, and what stays in our archive?
- How does the AI receptionist handle our after-hours calls?
Switching from Workiz to TradesWork
Be clear on this before you plan anything: TradesWork has no dedicated Workiz importer. Workiz exports come in through the generic "Another system or a spreadsheet" importer, which brings over two things: a customer list and a price list. You map the columns (name, phone, email, address, code, price, category), and each customer's address becomes their first service location. You see a preview before anything is saved, and you can import into a separate sandbox company first.
Job history, invoices, estimates and service plans do not import. They stay in the Workiz files you export, which you keep as your archive and open in Excel. Active service plans are rebuilt by hand as TradesWork memberships. Stored cards don't transfer: Workiz's help center says your business can't see saved card details,8 so customers re-save a card on their next payment or through a link.
Workiz Phone numbers move by porting out, which Workiz's help center describes as a request to support followed by your new provider submitting the port.9 The full sequence is in our Workiz migration guide, and the export steps are in how to export your data from Workiz.
Which should you choose?
Workiz if subcontractors do real volume for you, your work is fast-turn and phone-driven, you want financing inside the app today, or you need answering in French.
TradesWork if you're a 3 to 50 tech HVAC, plumbing or electrical shop selling memberships and replacements, you want a published price and month-to-month terms, and your office is growing faster than your truck count.
For more options, see our Workiz alternatives page, and score each one with the field service software scorecard.
