What every handyman estimate needs

  • Your business name, contact details and license number
  • Estimate number, date and how long the price is valid
  • Clear options (good, better, best) with what each includes
  • Warranty terms and any permit or inspection fees
  • Deposit required, if any
  • A place for the customer to approve and sign

Pricing handyman work

  • Build your hourly rate from your costs: (wages and payroll costs + truck + tools + insurance + overhead) ÷ billable hours, then add profit. Use a labor rate calculator.
  • Set a minimum charge (often one or two hours) so short jobs cover the trip.
  • Price common tasks flat by the job once you know how long they take: TV mounting, door adjustment, drywall patch by size.
  • Mark up materials and charge for pickup time, or ask customers to buy specified materials themselves.
